Scampiferous

Today we hit the surf! We met up with Becca, Ella and Noah at Short Point Beach which is a short stroll from our camp. The waves were kind of crazy, and the wind was a bit blowy, but we all had a great time crashing about in the waves and playing in the sand. Some friends of Becca’s dropped by and everyone enjoyed the great Aussie weather in a great Aussie way until it was time to retire for a late lunch.

The place we’re staying has wonderful activities for the kids. At Kids Club they do all sorts of craft, there’s move nights, pool games and other sports. There’s also a range of wheeled vehicles for hire, and this afternoon we found a suitable one for our travelling gaggle of girls. They had an absolute hoot tearing around the park, screaming their heads off as thay careered down the roadway.

While they were terrorising the neighbours, we and the Lucey man and lady (Tashi can’t remember Andy and Lu’s names very well and refers to them thus!) for oysters and gin and tonics on the cliff-top picnic area. A bit blowy, but a wonderfully dramatic view of Middle Beach which lies between Short Point where we are, and Long Point at the other end of the gently curved bay.

We were invited to Becca’s Mums place for dinner. Lily and Rose live in nearby Tura close to the beach with a view back to Short Pont where we’re staying. The kids played downstairs while the grown-ups ate (more) oysters, drank wine and chatted our heads off. Lily and Rose told us wonderful tales of their travels and we all ate and drank our fill before heading back home feeling tired and happy.
